And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

14 Et comme nous étions tous tombés à terre, j'entendis une voix qui me parlait et qui disait en langue hébraïque: Saul! Saul! pourquoi me persécutes-tu? Il t'est dur de regimber contre les aiguillons.

14 And, when we were all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against goads.

C’est alors que David, le jeune berger, entra dans l’histoire, et Samuel fut chargé par Dieu de l’oindre roi à la place de Saul. Samuel fit ainsi, mais David ne fit aucun effort pour assumer son rôle de roi d’Israël jusqu’après la mort du Roi Saul.

Meanwhile, the shepherd boy, David, enters into the story, and Samuel was instructed by God to anoint him king in place of Saul. Samuel did this, but David made no effort to assume the rulership of Israel until after the death of King Saul.
