La nomenclature utilisée en ostéologie est génréalement satisfaisante pour les ichthyologistes, mais l'important est avant tout de la rendre compatible avec la nomenclature utilisée pour les tétrapodes; certains noms doivent donc être changés.

The names used for bones are generally acceptable to ichthyologists but the gist of the argument is that some names need to be changed to agree with those of tetrapods.
