The owner was Hamann Echter, vizedom of Aschaffenburg, a title which means that he was the representative of the ruler the prince elector archbishop of Mainz Johann II of Nassau at the castle and town of Aschaffenburg.

Après l'acquisition du « Starkenburg » par l'archevêque de Mayence dès 1229, le couvent lui fut légué en 1232 avec l'ensemble de la propriété afférente dont aussi Heppenheim.

Après avoir fréquenté le collège des Jésuites de Coblence, Joseph Anton Boos déménagea à Mayence. Là, comme à Coblence, il fut actif comme organiste, principalement dans la collégiale St-Pierre.
